Happy 6 month birthday! 12/19/11

Where in the world has the last 6 months gone?  Wow.  Seems like only yesterday they were born and now here they are nearly full grown.  Here's a pic from day one, followed by some more recent ones of some of the kids.  Hopefully I'll get some updates for Christmas <G>

Hacker

Honor

Where's Waldo?
Hacker, Honor and Tommie, and believe it or not I'm in there too, you can see my foot down near Tommie's head.  That's Hacker's head, front and center, and Honor is on the left between me and the back of the couch - It was very cozy!

Uncle Creed on the left and Teller on the right.
Creed is actually all of the puppy's uncle as he is the brother of their Grandma Stevie,

Teller and Creed are best buds

Love this picture of Ron and Harley on Thanksgiving Day.  I've got to rescan the picture, not sure why it turned out so small.  Cracks me up!

Save the tree!

With two almost-six-month-old puppies in the house it was necessary to protect the poor Christmas tree from them - hence the ex-pen <G>

Sure, they may look like angels but they've already trimmed some of the branches that were sticking out through the bars and before the ex-pen went up Hacker pulled a ball off, luckily I caught him before he had time to crunch!  That wouldn't have been good.

Who needs toys?

...when you have the cardboard tubes from gift wrap, paper towels or toilet paper?  Or even a plain cardboard box.

The puppies went to work with me on Thursday.  I keep a couple of crates in the warehouse for days when I need any of them to come with me.  It's a definite perk that's worth more than $$.  At break time I had to wrap a couple of Christmas gifts; I used the last of the roll so I gave it to them and they went to town!  I grabbed my Blackberry and taped them but for some reason this Blogger site won't let me upload it - and neither will YouTube.  :o(  when they started on a cardboard box I took a couple of still pics too..... and that's when they had to go back in their crates and I had to clean up my office.  Sillies.

TommieMommy is healing well from her surgery last week.  By the second day she thought she was ready to rock-n-roll so I've had to enforce some quietness with her.  Stitches will come out next week.

Poor mama

TommieMommy was spayed today.  I wanted to get it done before she came in season again and since there is about a 6 week break between dog shows around here right now I figured it was a good time.  She'll be back in shape and ready to go in the ring mid-January.  But right now she's just feeling pathetic.  She's getting babied and pampered tonight and soaking up every second.   :o)

She's a bit whiney tonight but that's to be expected after anesthesia.  She'll start feeling better tomorrow and will be going to work with me for a few days, she likes that a lot.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A quiet evening on the couch with the pups and grandad Hayden.  The turkey's ready to go in the oven tomorrow along with all the side dishes.  We're expecting 25-30 family and friends for dinner.  It's a crowd for our little house but we have a great time.
This year I'm so very thankful for all the puppies being in such wonderful, loving homes.  Remember, not too many treats during the holidays and no turkey bones.

Dream is back

Sometimes life throws things at you that you just never saw coming.  That's what happened to Dream's family.  Dream was the dark blue collared girl who I called Honor.

Her family absolutely adored her, unfortunately life threw some things their way that made it impossible for them to keep her, no matter how heartbreaking it was to have to give her back.  They contacted me and I went to get her the very next day.  She's now home here and enjoying playing with her brother, Hacker, and mother Tommie.  She's settled in quite nicely.  I will always be grateful to her family for remembering to call me first.  I will always take my puppies back if they need a home.

Missed it!

I just realized I never posted any of these pictures!  Harlequin came for a visit a couple weeks ago and I forgot to post pics!  He and Hacker had a very "Large" time (as Grandma Holly in Tennessee says).  They played and played, and wrestled and tugged and just throughly enjoyed having a puppy their own size to play with.  It's good to have siblings!  ;o)

Harlequin's mom and dad brought a brand new toy for the boys to play with, they really loved it!

They both remember the tunnel from when they lived here - but now they play on it instead of in it.  :o)

 Such a handsome boy.

And afterwards Hacker took a very long nap.
So did Harlequin, his folks enjoyed a very peaceful evening with
a tuckered pup.

Hacker had his first experience staying in a motel last weekend.  He'll be doing a whole lot of it during his show career.  Watching TV from bed was a particularly favorite thing to do :o)

Hacker was entered in the Beginner Puppy competition at Sacramento Valley Dog Fanciers show on Saturday, 10/29.  This is a new competition that the AKC just started this Fall for puppies between 4 months and 6 months.  Hacker was Best of Breed puppy and went on to earn a Puppy Non-Sporting Group 3!  This was his very first competition and although it doesn't count towards anything, it's just for practice, I was still very, very happy with how he did.  Good Boy!

Happy Halloween!!

Pepper got into the Halloween spirit today by munching on a foot!  ;o)

Puppy playtime at the show

Friday was the Dalmatian Club of Northern California's specialty show (all Dalmatians).  Hacker is too young to enter in the regular classes but he went along anyway since we were there all weekend.  Sister Stella was there along with their cousin, Adele.  Hacker and Stella's great-grandma, Haley, was a littermate/sister to Adele's great-grandma, Gwen.  So it was an extended family reunion and BOY did they have fun!  Adele's three weeks younger than Hacker and Stella and just a little peaunut of a girl right now but boy could she keep up!  :o)

Old puppies

I always Love getting updates from folks who have made my grandpuppies a beloved part of their family.  This is May, grandpa Hayden's sister.  She now lives in Arizona with her mom and dad.

Bill and Rhonda took a trip to Sedona and found a really nice pet-friendly place to stay:  http://www.elportalsedona.com/ it looks lovely!  And even nicer that they allow pets.

Puppy updates

Stella's visiting this weekend while her mom and dad are away.  Three 4-month old puppies make for quite a circus!  Just one big happy family.  Stella and Rocky will both go home tomorrow afternoon.  It'll sure be quiet around here with just Hacker, mama Tommie and granddad Hayden.

Hacker - Stella - Rocky

Teller likes to help his dad read a book on quiet weekends

Stella watches TV with her mom in the evenings.  She prefers Animal Planet

News from Dad

This weekend in Tennessee papa Sagan earned his Novice Fast title or "NF" adding to his NA (Novice Agility) and NAJ (Novice Agility Jumpers) titles.  They all have slightly varied requirements for each title.  Sagan is now working on his Open agility titles.  Here's a picture of the handsome brownie boy and the ribbons he won this weekend.
He's now more formally known as
CH Rockstar Phoenix Written In The Stars, NA, NAJ, NF
Congrats to Holly and Sagan!

"Camp"

Rocky's here for a visit while his mom is vacationing in Ireland. You think one 3-1/2 month old puppy has as lot of energy?  Try two!  Whew!  They wear me out!  :o)  it's a lot of fun to watch them play - and play - and play.... then a time comes when I have to call a "time out" and separate them.  They're like toddlers who don't want to admit that they really need a nap.  ;o)

 Hacker has the much-coveted stick....

Now mom gets in on the fun and swipes the stick!

Family reunions and growing puppies

For the first time in over 20 years all three of my older sisters, my mom, and I were in the same place at the same time today!  It was pretty cool.  Hard to do when you're spread out around the west coast and all have busy schedules.

Received a couple new pictures of Miss Dream who now lives in Redding.  Gosh, she's getting so big!   I watch Hacker grow (and grow!) day by day but it always surprises me how mature the other grandpuppies look when I get new pictures of them.  I think this one is appropriately titled "Sweet Dreams"  ;o)  Beautiful girl.

A couple new pics!

Stella came over on Labor Day for a playdate with her brother.  OMgosh, they ran and played and tugged and wrestled and had a Big time!  Hacker was asleep before "great gradma" Karen and Stella turned off of our street.  <G>

Rocky discovered he Loves tomatoes!
Now Mary has to try to keep him out of the bushes or she won't get any!  ;o)

Pepper has a Golden Retriever for a big brother - meet Zeke, he's a Big handsome boy!

 Pepper loves her toys.

Back to work!

Tommie's maternity leave is officially over. :o).  Tommie and I started back training for her Utility Dog title a couple weeks ago and we had our first lesson since before the puppies were born on Thursday.  I've been  training my dogs with Dee Dee Anderson for a long, long time.

Hacker went along and we used the first 15 minutes or so going over basic stuff as well as laying down very  beginning puppy exercises that will lead to upper obedience exercises - Hacker thought that was great fun!  He already knows the basics - sit, down, come, etc. and we're working on "stand" and of course "stay" in all three positions (Hacker thinks this is the very Hardest!)  ;o)

Here's Hacker trying to be a big dog.  :o)

Happy Birthday, papa Sagan!

Today is daddy Sagan's 3rd birthday.  Yep, Tommie got herself a younger man! :o)  I'm sure he'll be celebrating with extra treats back there in Tennessee!

I've received some update pics of the puppies.  Here are a few, more to follow:

Harlequin had an "oopsie" on the carpet and had to wait outside while his mom and dad cleaned it up.  Looks like he's saying "Hurry up in there!  I need someone to play with!"

Marlee's enjoying her new bed and toys

Axyl's taking it easy, with his mom and one of his new big sisters, Chesnee.

Long delayed update!

Whew!  Between a busy work schedule and these guys the time is just flying by!  I spend pretty much all of my free time with the puppies these days.  They started going home this past weekend, including two that flew to Tennessee and North Carolina, here's an update:

Herbie (brown collared boy) is now named Teller and lives with his papa Sagan in Tennessee

Hank (green collared boy) is now named Axyl and lives in North Carolina

Hector is now named Harley and lives in the east bay

Hellen (black collared girl) is now called Pepper and lives in northern California
Halle (orange collared girl) is now named Stella and will be living locally
Horton (white collared boy) is now named Rocky and will be living here in the bay area

Honor (dark blue collared girl) is now named Dream and will be living in far northern California

Hillary (Lt Blue collared girl) is now named Marlee and will be living in Oregon
And last but not least, this is Hacker (purple collared boy) and he'll be staying here with me.  :o)
I am so pleased with the quality of this litter.  Tommie and Sagan did a great job!  Special thanks to Holly Waldrop, Sagan's owner, for making him available to Tommie as a stud dog.  And thanks so much to all the families who are loving these kids (or will be very soon!).  It makes their going-away a little easier knowing how much they are loved.  I hope to keep updating this blog with pictures of what the puppies and their families are up to throughout their lives. Thanks for following along!!  (((Hugs)))
